I used to joke with my colleagues that nursing shift-work aged me five years for every one I worked. Between the 3 a.m. wake-up calls, back-to-back night shifts, and missing countless family events, I’d started dreaming of a life with some actual routine—and maybe a bit less caffeine dependency. But even then, I never thought I’d swap a stethoscope for picture books. Yet here I am, and I have to say, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
